Both the Tourist and Business eVisas for Myanmar require the applicant to hold a valid passport from one of the eligible countries.

Also, both visas are single-entry visas which allow the bearer to enter the country just once. If the eVisa holder wishes to leave the country and later return it is necessary to apply for another eVisa.

The Myanmar eVisa is valid for ninety (90) days from the date of issue.

Children over 7 years old or those who already have an individual passport, the parent must apply separately for an eVisa

Children under 7 years old can travel to Myanmar without the need for an individual eVisa if they meet the following requirements:

• The child must be accompanied by the parent/guardian.
• The child must be included in the parent/guardian’s passport.
• The details of the child must be included in the parent/guardian’s eVisa.

Failure to obtain this authorization will result in being denied entry into Myanmar.

Travelers holding a Myanmar eVisa are permitted entry into the country through the following air and land ports:

• Yangon International Airport
• Mandalay International Airport
• Nay Pyi Taw International Airport
• Tachileik Land Border Checkpoint
• Myawaddy Land Border Checkpoint
• Kawthaung Land Border Checkpoint
• Tamu Land Border Checkpoint
• Rih Khaw Dar Land Border Checkpoint

All travelers must use one of these ports of entry to arrive, however it is not necessary to depart via any of the authorized ports.

• eVisa holders must print out at least one copy of their eVisa Approval Letter
• Upon arrival at Myanmar travelers must present their eVisa at the immigration checkpoint
• Travelers are required to have their eVisa with them at all times during their stay
• Passports of eVisa holders must be valid for at least six (6) months from the date of arrival.
• eVisa holders must stay in registered hotels, inns, motels, hostels, guest houses and resorts while visiting Myanmar.

Following implementation of the eVisa program in September 2014, foreign nationals of the countries and territories listed below are eligible to apply for an eVisa to travel to Myanmar:

* Citizens from countries marked with an asterix (*) are also able to apply for a Business Visa for Myanmar.

Citizens possessing a valid passport from the previously-mentioned eligible countries can apply for a Myanmar eVisa online here.

• A scanned color copy of the of the biographical page of the current passport of each applicant;
• Recent passport-style color photo (taken during the last three (3) months):
  • Photograph dimensions should be 4.8cm x 3.8cm and;
  • The head should cover about 70% of the photograph and be centered;
  • All hats or headgear should be removed for the photograph unless worn daily for religious reasons. In such cases the facial features (eyes, nose and mouth) must be visible in the photograph;
  • It must show a full, clear, front view of the applicants face;
  • Applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the top of the head to the tip of the chin;
  • Must have a white background;
  • The photograph should not be altered in anyway with the head centered and in focus;
  • The photograph must be recent, no more than 3 months old;
  • The expression of the Applicant should be natural, with both eyes open, mouth closed, and looking directly ahead;
  • Scanned or colour photocopies of passport photos will not be accepted.

Besides the previously mentioned documents, any business traveler to Myanmar must provide the following for their online eVisa application:

At the moment of application, it is not necessary to have the Letter of Invitation and the Inviting Company Certificate as you can provide them at a later date.

Applicants must travel to Myanmar with the following documentation:

1. A printout of their eVisa Approval Letter;
2. A passport valid for at least six months past arrival date;
3. Confirmation of hotel reservations that have been made;
4. For business eVisa holders, any invitation letters by corresponding Ministries/Inviting Companies for conferences, events, ceremonies etc;
5. All eVisa holders must have sufficient funds for the duration of stay in Myanmar;
6. All eVisa holders must also have an onward or return journey.

Once the application process is complete, applicants will be sent updates and notifications regarding their visa petition via e-mail. The accepted eVisa Approval Letter will be emailed to the applicant.

Please note that sensitive biographical information - such as first and last names, gender, date and place of birth, address, passport number and nationality - must appear exactly as they do on the traveler’s passport or other accredited travel documents.
